My photograph January is being exhibited at Blank Wall gallery’s photo exhibition in Athens, Greece!
This is so exciting! Blank Wall gallery is currently holding a group photo exhibition at their gallery with the theme “winter.” One of my photographs, featuring a very snowy rooftop and sporting the fitting name January, was selected to be part of this exhibition. They always have so many people from all over the world applying for their exhibitions and the quality of the work displayed in their gallery is always incredible. It’s such an honor to have my work once again selected by them!
The photograph was taken during a walk an icy winter day earlier this year (you guess it – it was in January!). It had been snowing almost non-stop for quite some time, and everything was completely buried in snow. Everywhere you looked was a gorgeous winter land scene, it felt like walking inside a snow globe! But just like most other beautiful nature scenes, it can be challenging to capture properly the beauty of the snowy landscapes on camera. While I am happy with my photograph, I can’t help but feel that it didn’t manage to capture completely how it felt walking around that day, with all sounds muffled by the massive amounts of snow that surrounded you every everywhere you looked. Still, it was a fun photograph to take, and not the usual type of photographs I usually do, being mostly attracted to people and portraits.
While this is the first time I have work exhibited that does not feature Alexandra, she was actually with me the day I shot that photograph. She was eager to join me for my walk, and every time I had to pause to either catch my breath or snap a shot, she would be either climbing up or rolling down the many piles of snow the mowing truck had left next to the sidewalks. If only it was possible to harness all that energy…!
